Chapter 25

Chapter Twenty-Five

QWIN

Rubbing my lips, I watch EvO walk away with a huge smile on his face. For a guy who just experienced his first kiss earlier, he sure is catching on quick. I hear Ember giggle, and I know she is going to have to say something.

“ I see that you and EvO are getting cozy?”

“ He is growing on me.”

“ He seems sweet, and it doesn’t hurt that he is easy on the eyes.”

“ Shame on you.”

“ Hey , I’m not blind. Wait until you see some of the other brothers. Several make my ViN look cute and cuddly while the others you have to make yourself look away from because your eyes would melt. Lord , their dad is even yummy.”

“ Ember , shame on you.” I can’t help but laugh as she rolls her eyes.

“ You’ll see them for yourself soon, then we can compare notes afterwards.”

Turning away from her with a huge grin on my face. I see the young girl who I was wiping off the extra pink stuff earlier, eyes start blinking. A small moan leaves her lips and I grasp her hand while leaning over her. It takes her a second to focus on me.

“ Hi , I’m Qwin . You’re safe, … just lay here a moment and give your body time to wake up. What’s your name, honey?”

“ Lacie .” She turns her head slowly, looking around. “ Where are we?”

“ I will explain it all in a little bit. Are you cold or hurting anywhere?”

“ A little chilled.”

“ I’ll be right back. I need to find the blankets.” She hesitates to let go of my hand at first, but finally releases it. Stepping away from her, I walk towards Ember , who is a few rows over talking to another girl.

“ Hey , where are the blankets?”

“ Oh , hold on. Destroyer , we need some bed coverings, please.”

Moments later, several small totes are lowered out of the ceiling next to us, with neatly folded blankets inside. “ Damn , she is handy isn’t she?”

“ You have no idea; wait until you meet SAGE . You will wonder how we ever made it without them. Oh , and as soon as things calm down, we will get you some clothes that fit. You are swimming in those.”

“ Thanks , I am already tired of walking on the hem.”

Suddenly , the entire room is full of weak voices, it appears that everyone is waking up at once. Quickly , I make my way back to Lacie covering her up before gathering up more blankets in my arms.

Walking around, I try my best to talk calmly to each and every person individually. Some seem to be calm, while others appear to be in shock. I am in the process of covering up one of the few guys I have seen so far. When he reaches out, grabbing my arm gently. “ Have you seen my wife?”

“ I’m not sure, honey. They just started bringing the pods in.”

“ They launched us at the same time. She has to be here, but I can’t see who is behind me.”

“ What does she look like?”

“ She is around five-seven, curly dark blond hair, blue eyes, medium build, in her late thirties.”

“ What’s your name?”

“ I’m Ricky , her name is Ginger .”

“ You lay here and rest for a little bit, and I’ll ask around. Most are just now waking up, so don’t lose hope if she isn’t here yet. There is still a lot more outside to bring in.”

Walking away from him. I instantly start looking for anyone who might even be close to that description, but I don’t see anyone. I hope for his sake she is here. We have all lost so much; it would be nice to see someone have a happy ending.
