Chapter 32

thirty-two

XAVIER

M y eyes open and darkness greets me. I have no idea what time it is. The bed is empty next to me. I can hear pots and pans clattering and clanging together. Moving slowly as I get my bearings, I slide on my sweats as I make my way out of my room.

Music moves down the hallway from our kitchen that had up until now remained mainly unused. The scent of garlic and onions makes its way to my nose the closer I get to the noise. I round the corner to see her. I still cannot believe she is even here. I woke up imagining everything would be a really cruel dream. She’s actually here. Wearing a long shirt that barely covers her ass, cooking something that makes my mouth water.

“You listened to it. It’s missing something, right?” I hear Luna’s voice carry over the soft music filling the room, turning around to face the stove. Sebastian sits at the counter, chin resting on his hand as he stares directly at Luna’s ass. Can’t blame him. I’m looking, too. Smiling to myself as I walk up behind him, I slide my hands across his back to his front, pulling him to my chest as his entire body jolts in my arms.

“Fuck you, you scared me,” he says, trying to push me away. My snicker is directly into his neck.

“Don’t be like that. I missed you,” I whisper, kissing his neck. The goosebumps appear almost immediately down his arm as his breath catches. My kiss turns into a bite, and the moan Sebastian releases goes straight to my cock, hardening rapidly.

“I missed you, too,” he pants. The growl of my stomach makes Sebastian’s pants turn to laughs.

“Hold off, big guy. Our girl is making us dinner.” My eyes find Luna as she leans against the other counter, cheeks red. It seems our girl has a serious kink for watching. Noted.

“Isn’t that sweet?” I say, placing a final kiss on his neck.

“Your kitchen called to me.” She shrugs and gives a smile that doesn’t quite meet her eyes.

“It smells delicious,” I say simply as she turns around and focuses her attention on the stove. “What are you making, baby girl?”

“Sauteed chicken and pasta with an herb butter sauce. There’s a salad in the fridge if that interests you,” she says quickly, hands moving towards the fridge. She’s nervous. How precious.

“It smells amazing. Is there anything I can do to help?” Sebastian’s laugh is loud and startles me. Luna turns slightly to raise her eyebrow at him over her shoulder.

“What did you tell me, princess?” Sebastian’s stops as he sits up taller, sticking his nose in the air. “Fuck off?” His impression of her is terrible but it doesn’t stop the laughter from bubbling up.

“I did not sound like that!” she yells incredulously. His laugh echoes around the kitchen, the sound warming me through. I can’t remember a time when he seemed so carefree, not even when we were kids. Luna turns to look at me, raising her eyebrows, questioning me. Her look sobers me quickly, a small smirk still on my mouth.

“What did you say, baby girl?” I ask as I move closer to her, grabbing the loose sides of her shirt and pulling her into my chest. She mumbles something I can’t hear directly at my chest. Whatever she says sets Sebastian off again. Glancing back at Sebastian, I see his eyes sparkle as he watches both of us. Wiping the tears of laughter out of his eyes I turn back, grasping Luna’s chin and tilting it up. Her eyes are closed and her cheeks and neck are splattered in red.

“Try again, angel.” Sebastian snickers, having me smile down at this beautiful creature in my arms. She takes a deep breath before opening her eyes to glare directly at me. Her ferocity makes me want to cuddle her harder.

“I said,” she says hotly, “I appreciate the offer but… politely… fuck off?” I finally let a laugh spill between us, I feel it take over my body as I see the fire light in her eyes.

“Let go of me, you big jerk. I need to drain the pasta,” she says, actively pushing me away from her. I tighten my hold before pulling her to her toes and laying a loud kiss on her lips. “You just saved us all. Sebastian can’t even microwave a meal without giving us food poisoning.” I kiss her forehead before releasing her to step away.

“Oh.” Her cheeks pinken again as she faces Sebastian. He gives her a wink before getting up and grabbing the plates.

“I’ll set the table.”
