Chapter 10

10

" O h, my God, this place is amazing!" Robyn said when they were inside the old-fashioned street car. "It's not a train, it's more like a trolley from San Francisco, only bigger, closed in and renovated. Very cool."

"Nothing like I've ever seen before," Fletch said as he shook off his jacket. "There's a table over there. Did you want to get it and I'll order the drinks and food?"

"How about I put our coats there, and I'll join you because you have no idea what I would like to have." She smiled up at him rather cheekily.

“True enough. Okay, I'll get in line and wait for you.”

He watched her place their coats on the chair, and she fluffed her hair; totally unnecessary because to him she looked absolutely perfect. She was windblown, pink-cheeked from the cold, her eyes bright and shining. She was beautiful.

Robyn walked towards him, meeting his gaze. The heat he saw in them sent a surge of desire through him. They’d been tiptoeing around the sexual tension that hovered between them for most of the day. It was powerful and brought back sweet memories of their first night together. He wondered if she’d given any thought on how they should end their evening. He had.

Spending the day with her allowed him to see more of who she is, and hopefully for her as well. He’d enjoyed every moment of the day. Being with her hadn’t been stressful in the least. They were good together, and he was optimistic, wanting to get to know her better. What she loved, desired, goals and dreams. There was no doubt about their chemistry.

He’d also been thinking about her invitation to Vermont. Had it been in the heat of the moment, a slip of the tongue, or had she meant it?

The thought of spending the holidays with family had been a dream of his since he was a kid. But, he didn’t have a family other than Beck and Rob. Robyn’s family was hers, not his. If he went, he was concerned he’d be crashing a close gathering of parents, siblings, and extended family members and be unwelcome, or at the very least, cause strain with his presence. It was the last thing he wanted to do to Robyn.

So, he was torn.

She slipped her arm through his and leaned into him. He let the concerning thoughts slide away and chose to worry about it later. He’d rather feel the wonderful contentment that rushed through him in her presence. In a nutshell, being with her made him feel good and realize what he’d been missing all these years. Someone to share a life with.

Had he been living in a bubble, not recognizing how empty he’d been? Sure, his life was full with the business, Intrepid, and everything that went along with it. But, now he could see there was more to living and it was lacking.

A companion, someone to share the days…and nights… with. No one had ever made him feel like that, until now. He took a deep breath and gazed down at her while she inspected the display case of delectable treats and nibbled on her nail. A vision of a life with her flashed through his brain, images of them cruising the ocean, with babies, growing old together. Had he lost his mind?

No, he hadn’t. Something changed in him, and he wanted to hang on to it. Hang on to Robyn.

Later they walked arm-in-arm across the street to her hotel. Fletch wanted to make sure she got back without any incident. Unlike last night.

Once in the elevator, alone, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her until she hung limp in his arms.

“I’ve been dying to do this all night,” he whispered into her hair.

“Me too,” she breathed, and her fingers clutched him.

The elevator pinged their arrival at her floor and stopped. She stepped out of his embrace and took his hand, the other holding the door open.

“Are you coming?” she asked, her voice husky, and it heightened his desire for her. The elevator doors tried to close, and she pressed her hand to stop them. “Well?” Her smile was a siren’s call.

“I’d love to. Maybe a nightcap,” he answered and followed her down the hall. He suggested the nightcap just in case that was what she’d prefer. Were they ready to spend another night together? Fletch would leave that decision up to her.

“I might not let you go that easily,” she said at the door to her room.

“Is that right? You planning on holding me hostage?” He gazed down, not minding that predicament at all.

“Oh, possibly,” she said and pushed the door open. “Maybe I’ll never let you go.”

She turned, walking backward and led him deeper into her room.

“C’mere you.” Fletch pulled her against his chest, and the little gasp she gave was his undoing.

“Whatever you say,” she murmured against his lips. “I’ve been waiting for this moment all day.”

“Me too.” He looked down at her and raised his eyebrows. “Is this what you want? It’s not too soon before us getting to know each other?”

“Silly, no. It’s not too soon. The timing is perfect,” she breathed the words.

Fetch swept her into his arms and took her to bed. The sheets and duvet had been turned down and there were chocolates on the pillow. He lay her down.

“Let me,” he said when she began to pull at her clothes. Slowly, agonizingly so, he started at her feet and removed her shoes.

Sliding his hands up her legs, to her hips, he opened the clasp on her jeans and smiled hearing her breathing quicken. Tugging the jeans off he caught his breath seeing the turquoise panties she wore. He helped her remove her coat and top, then pushed her back to the pillows.

“I’ve never seen anything so beautiful,” he said and yanked off his own clothes, tossing them to the floor but not before he took a condom from his wallet.

“What about those beautiful sunsets on the ocean you were telling me about?” She smiled and held her hand up for him.

Fletch shook his head. “They pale in comparison to you.”

Robyn couldn't get enough of him. It had been far too long thinking about him when they were apart and, she was finally in his arms. Bumping into him yesterday was serendipity. Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times, and that’s definitely how she felt.

She thought they’d been lost to each other. But the universe had other plans and brought them back together. Was it a sign that they were meant to be? She knew how she felt around him, and he had been giving her all the vibes he felt the same. Dare she consider he could he be the one?

She was definitely prepared to find out.

He was cautious, where her natural cautious nature had gone out the window where he was concerned. Like their first night together, instinct told her he was a good guy, and after a day of being together, talking about their lives, family, and touching on other topics had been such a wonderful start to what she hoped would grow into something special.

But right now, wrapped in his arms, their bodies pressed together, she let her thoughts drift away and allowed herself to drift into the realm of pleasure. They were flesh to flesh, and it was time to let their bodies take over.

Robyn rose up on her elbow and gazed down at him.

"I can't believe you're here, or that we bumped into each other so unexpectedly." She leaned down and pressed her lips to his before he could answer.

She slid over him until her knees were on either side of his hips, lips still fused and her breasts pushed against him. His chest hair tickled her nipples and they hardened. She moaned into his mouth and moved her shoulders creating a delightful friction between her breasts and his chest. Feeling him harden between her legs carried her into that realm of pleasure she sought. He lifted his hips and she moved on him, but she needed to feel him inside her.

“P-protection?” she said against his mouth.

Fletch rolled her over onto her back and took a package off the bedside table. Moments later, he was back between her thighs, lifting her legs and kneeling as he slid his hands to her hips.

She reached between them, grasping his length as he moved her bottom onto his thighs. She guided him into her, catching his gaze and gasping as he stretched her wide.

“Ahh,” he groaned and pushed deeper into her. Their eyes locked. The sight of him above her, the feel of him inside of her, was perfection.

He pulled her to a sitting position on his thighs, bringing him deeper in her and she moaned, glad he was holding her. She pressed her fingers into the hairs on his chest, loving the crispness of them against her flesh. She buried her face in his neck and slid her arms around him. Her need for him overpowered her senses.

She rode him as he thrust into her. "Oh, Fletch."

Her body received him eagerly. Wrapped in each other’s arms, he found her lips with his. It was impossible for them to get any closer together. They found the exquisite cadence, with him filling her so completely that her release rushed through her body. Seconds later he groaned as they came together.

They fell to the bed, still locked together. The glow of Christmas lights played on the ceiling, and the distant sound of Christmas carols serenaded them to sleep.
