My husband balanced himself over me, driving his cock into me with his jaw clenched in concentration. “Fuck, Mags, you feel so good. You’re gonna make me blow my load before I’m ready.”
My nails dug into his back as I arched up to meet his thrusts. “Give it to me, give me all your cum, baby.”
“Damn it,” he moaned, his cock turning to steel as he pumped a few more times and then stilled. “Oh, god, oh fuck…here it comes…”
I held my breath as he spasmed inside me, coating my pussy with his seed. He collapsed on top of me, panting, his whole body shuddering with pleasure.
Wrapping my arms around him, I kissed the top of his head as he completely emptied his balls, every last drop collecting in my channel. He liked to stay just like this for several moments, soaking up every last bit of his climax. I’d already come several times, so I just held him as he reveled in his bliss.
Finally, his head lifted. “That was fucking amazing.” He pressed his lips to my mouth, hungrily chewing on the bottom one as he lifted some of his weight off me.
I pulled him back down, enjoying the feel of him squeezing the air from my lungs. “So you still like the breeding kink…even though you can’t get me pregnant?”
“It’s not really about that,” he admitted. “Though…with Raine, there was that chance. That wasn’t why I was into her though. I really did?—”
I cut him off, “Let’s not talk about her. We’re trying to move on, right? Once we figure out a path forward with this surrogacy thing, we can go back to dating. I checked my messages on Fet yesterday. Have you looked at your account lately?”
He shook his head. “No…I’m not ready yet. Still missing her.”
He climbed off me and lay on his back for a few minutes, staring at the ceiling. “You ready for our appointment?”
“Yeah.” I rolled to my side and pressed my hand to his chest, absentmindedly playing with his chest hair. “I don’t have a good feel for the process or how long it will take, but I’m anxious to get it underway.”
“Oh, you know, it will be like anything else—it’ll take longer than we’re told and cost twice as much money.” He sighed.
I nodded, frowning. “You’re probably right about that. Did you stop transferring money to Raine?”
He was quiet for a moment.
I gave him a little smack on the chest. “Leo…we need that money for our actual surrogate.”
“I know…but I feel bad it didn’t work out, and I know she still needs the money, even if she doesn’t have to pay that bogus bill for the stolen jewelry.”
I sighed. I understood where he was coming from. My thoughts kept lingering on her as well, on what her future would look like. I wondered if she would ever find the happiness she deserved. I just wished it would have been with us. For a couple of months, she was such a fixture in our home, our bed, our lives…I could imagine her being here all the time, being a permanent part of this crazy life we were building together.
And I had thought about how perfect it would be for us to raise the baby together, the three of us. How much easier it would be, how the baby would have three loving parents, always someone there for him or her.
I’d definitely put the cart before the horse, and I was chastising myself every time an image of her flashed into my mind. I hoped, after our appointment today, I’d have a new focus. A distraction. And with any luck, in a year or so, I’d be holding our baby. It wouldn’t exactly be the same, and it would just be me and Leo finding our way through the crazy maze of parenthood, but we could do it. I knew we could.
“I better go take a shower.” Leo sat up and swung his legs onto the floor. “What time did you say the appointment is?”
“It’s at ten, but we have to drive clear up to the north side of Indy. Traffic might be crazy.”
“Right. Well,” he leaned back down to kiss my cheek, “let’s get the show on the road.”
It was basically a theater reference.
Which naturally made me think of Raine.
Maybe expecting to stop thinking of her all the time was a lost cause.

Maggie and I said goodbye to Blue, climbed into the SUV, and I pressed the button to open the garage door. I was just getting ready to pull out when I noticed a car had pulled in behind us, blocking our exit. What the fuck?
“What’s wrong?” Maggie was in her maps app, entering the address for the clinic on the north side of Indy.
“Someone’s parked behind us.”
“What do you mean?” She opened the door and leaned out, twisting her body to look behind the vehicle. Her whole body jolted, and she slammed the door shut.
“What’s going on?”
“I think it’s Raine,” was all she said.
What on earth? I climbed down from the driver’s seat and headed toward the driveway, where, sure enough, Raine was sliding out of her car. I heard Maggie’s door slam shut again as she joined me.
“What are you doing here?” I demanded as I closed the distance between us.
“I need to talk to you guys.” Her voice sounded nervous, warbly.
Maggie was the first to respond. “Great timing. We’re on our way to the surrogate clinic for our appointment.”
“What?” A look of panic flashed across her face. “I thought that wasn’t until November?”
“We got an earlier appointment due to a cancellation,” Maggie explained. “What do you want?”
Wow, she’s not handling this very well, is she? I stepped closer to Raine. “We’re trying to move on, Raine. You walking out of our lives and refusing to answer our calls and texts was very hurtful.”
She looked down at her hands, twisting her fingers together as she considered her response. “Can I just talk to you for five minutes? Then I’ll leave and never talk to you again if that’s what you want.”
Maggie huffed and shot me a questioning look. I nodded. “Five minutes. Come on up on the porch.”
The early morning sun was bathing our porch in soft gold light, making our wicker furniture look especially inviting. We climbed the steps and chose our seats, Maggie and myself on the loveseat, while Raine took the single chair.
“The clock is ticking,” Maggie reminded her. I reached over and took my wife’s hand, squeezing it gently. Hopefully, she would tone down the attitude. I didn’t know what Raine planned to say, but I was sure it took a lot of courage for her to come over here after two weeks of silence.
“First of all, I wanted to say I’m sorry.” She wrung her hands as her eyes bounced between mine and Maggie’s. “I never meant to hurt either of you. I just couldn’t work out why you both liked me. Why you were so caring and loving toward me, and I figured it must just be because I could give you a baby. Then I got my period a couple days ago, and I realized I couldn’t even do that!” She gave a dark, humorless chuckle as she waited to see how we would react.
“It was only the first month of trying,” Maggie said, her tone softer. “And your body was still getting used to being off the Pill. We knew it would probably take some time. But, even so, after you said you couldn’t do it, we told you it was okay. We still wanted you. We wanted you in our lives as a friend…as a lover…”
“I know,” she choked out, her eyes glistening with tears. “And I threw it all away because of my own issues with my past and family, my fear of rejection and abandonment.”
“It didn’t have to be that way,” I said softly, my eyes boring into hers.
A tear slid down her cheek. “I…I still want to have your baby,” she said. “I didn’t realize how badly I wanted it until I got my period and those dreams were officially dashed. But that’s not all I want.”
Maggie squeezed my hand, and when I looked at her, I saw her eyes were full of unshed tears, her lower lip quivering as she waited for Raine to express her thoughts. We both waited on the edges of our seats to hear her deepest desires.
She swallowed hard and scooted her chair closer to us, so her knees moved into the space between both pairs of our knees. Maggie smoothed down the wrinkles in her floral skirt, and Raine caught her hand, then reached for my hand with her other one. She looked around the circle we’d made, our hands clasped together, and a teary smile curled her lips.
“See this? How we are all connected? This is what I want. And hopefully a little one in the middle, looking to us for care, guidance and love.” She cleared her throat and let go of our hands. “But I understand if it’s too late. Or if you’d rather go through the agency. I totally get it.
“I know you might have a hard time trusting me after ghosting you guys for two weeks…but I’ve had a lot of time to think about this and get my shit straightened out, and I’m coming to you today with a totally open heart, communicating exactly what I want.
“So I’m offering myself to you because…” she swallowed hard and gave a tentative smile, “because I’ve fallen in love with you, and I missed you guys so much. I just haven’t been myself. I miss the Raine I was when I was with you. You’ve both been so loving, so accepting of me, and I… I’ve never had that before. I pushed you away because I was scared of getting my heart stomped on. But it’s worth it…it’s so worth it. You are both so worth it.”
Maggie was the first to reach for her hand again, practically yanking her across the small space separating us. Next thing I knew, they were both on their feet, and my wife’s arms were flying around Raine’s figure, squeezing her within an inch of her life. “Oh, darling, we hoped you’d come back. We’ve fallen in love with you too, sweet girl.”
A tear came to my own eye when I saw the beaming grin on my wife’s face as she pulled back to look at Raine. “It’s not too late. We can still have all that. But what about your career? We know you didn’t plan to stay here forever—that your job would take you far away from us.”
Raine’s face brightened as she turned to me. “Hey, remember when you helped exonerate me at the theater department?”
I grinned. “Yes! And that bitchy Costume Czar you hated ended up getting canned, right?”
“She sure did,” Raine continued, “and they promoted the head costume designer into her position. So, guess who urgently needs a costume designer before the fall season starts?”
“Oh my god!” Maggie exclaimed. “You’ve got to be kidding me?”
She shook her head, tears flying off her cheeks, but I was pretty sure they were happy tears now. “I don’t have the position yet, but, considering what happened—I think the department is kinda worried I might sue them since they didn’t investigate properly before charging me. Danielle and Molly think I’m a shoe-in, and Molly wrote a really nice recommendation for me. I have an interview next week.”
“That’s fucking amazing!” I exclaimed. “Almost like it was meant to be.” I threw my arms around her, and then the three of us all ended up in one big happy hug.
“Not almost,” Maggie said. “It was meant to be. We were meant to be.”
