Ryder couldn’t believe his luck. He’d not only found a place to work, he and Nolan had found a great community in Seattle. The field he was taking care of was perfect for him. He had been hired on at a better position than he’d been in when he’d worked in Atlanta and had more responsibility.
Nolan had found a great place to work that wasn’t too far from their apartment. Both of their houses sold fast in Texas, and they were looking for a house or condo to buy here that would be close to both of their workplaces.
The door opened, and Nolan stepped in, a smile on his face. "Hey, you're home."
“I am. I couldn’t wait to see you.”
Nolan planted a kiss on his lips that made him think about bed. But they had something very important to do this afternoon.
“You about ready?” Nolan asked.
“I am.”
“Awesome. I’m ready.”
They weren’t making a big deal out of it, but they were taking a long weekend trip to Whidbey Island after they stopped by the court building to get their marriage license. They’d contacted a woman who lived on the island who agreed to perform the ceremony in three days.
Before Nolan could open the door, Ryder pushed him up against the wall. He couldn’t believe that he was getting married again, and he couldn’t believe that it was with Nolan.
“I never thought I would get married again, and I certainly never would have suspected I would be with a guy. Too much brought us together and threatened to keep us apart. I think we’ve been tied to each other for years and just didn’t know it. Now we’re making it official. And I think both Amy and Andrew would approve.”
Nolan nodded. “I think they would. I feel like since that day, maybe before that day, we were moving toward each other.”
Ryder pressed his lips to Nolan's, begging him to open. They had some time, not enough for sex, but enough for him to get his point across. He was in love with Nolan, and nothing would ever keep them apart again.
The kiss ended, and Nolan looked up at him. "I love you."
The words made his heart soar. He closed his eyes and leaned in, resting his forehead against Nolan's. "When you say those words to me, it's like I can fly forever. I love you, Nolan. And I will until the end of time."
He wished they could go back into the bedroom and make love for hours, but they needed to tie the knot. This weekend, they could have sex everywhere on Whidbey they could find some privacy.
“Today marks the beginning of the rest of our lives,” Nolan said.
"And I'm glad I get to spend it with you." He had it all now, and he would treasure every day with Nolan because this man had set him free and made him realize how deep love ran.
