AIDAN
“I ’m almost too scared to ask how you found him?” Detective White says, as the police officers put handcuffs on Johnny Trevis.
He’s very quiet and partly that’s because he’s having trouble speaking.
Oops.
“I’ll get my team to send you everything we have on him.” I say, my hands in my pants pocket. “He’s married to, um, a friend of mine. Obviously not a legit marriage—”
“Isk wehgit you askhwhole.” Trevis tries to say.
I lift my brow.
The detective nods his head at his team, and they drag him away. Then he turns back to me. “We’ll need to speak to her.”
First, I need to tell Briar what’s happened. I’m surprised she hasn’t come running down here yet, but I figure she’s in the bathroom or distracted.
One of my team members might be keeping her away from the action and I appreciate that they have. But it has to be me who tells her what’s happened. I’m not letting anyone else do it.
It’s going to break her.
It’s going to rip me apart seeing her so torn up by this fucker. But I love her enough to do it.
If she loved him, then regardless of who he was and what he’s done, I have to respect it.
Because I love her.
Nothing will ever change that.
“Sure. I’ll bring her by in a few hours, if that’s okay. This is Savannah Sinclair’s wedding. She’s her bridesmaid.”
“Jesus, really?” the cop asks, glancing around. There are a few celebrities here and I see his eyes widening.
“Prefer if you keep that quiet. We don’t want any media showing up.”
“It will hit the news, eventually.”
“Yeah, I know.” I sigh. Ryder is going to be pissed as hell. So will his new wife.
“Best I can do is a couple of hours.” He shrugs. “You know how it is.”
I do.
And this is Hollywood, baby. The fact we pulled this off without a leak is a goddamn miracle.
“Give me two hours and I’ll bring her down to the station.” I say and glance over my shoulders. Seriously, my team deserves a raise for keeping Briar away for this long.
“We’ll see you then. And hey, good work. This guy has been wanted for a long damn time,” the cop says.
Josh walks over as the LAPD vehicles drive off.
“So. You going to get your girl now?”
Not my girl.
“Something like that.” I mutter and slap him on the shoulder as I turn. Then head to the women’s restrooms to find her. “Something like that.”

T EN MINUTES LATER I’m striding back through the guests, beelining it for Ryder and Savannah.
“Where is she?” I demand.
Savannah startles. “Who?”
“Briar!” I yell.
“Hey.” Ryder steps in front of me and puts his hand up. “Calm the fuck down.”
I rake my hand through my hair and explain that I can’t find her anywhere.
“Oh, my god. Where is she?” Savannah asks.
“Gone.” Josh walks up, holding up his phone. “Climbed out the window.”
Fuck!
