Stadium lights flickered in the darkening skies. The crowd erupted as Pruitt led a pass to his team’s receiver and the Mystic Hollow Devils scored a touchdown.

“Damn,” said Darcy, clapping with the crowd. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it’s almost like he’s drawing some extra juice from the full moon or something.”

“Ha,” gave an uneasy chuckle. “I don’t know about all that.”

“And isn’t that his girlfriend?” Darcy pointed to the cheerleaders as they led the crowd in a celebration chant. “How’d that conversation go over?”

“Oh, Ada?” asked absentmindedly as he pulled out his phone to check it. “She’s his ex.”

“Well, lots of new updates around here, huh?”

didn’t want to admit to himself that he was waiting for some kind of contact from Uriah, but the lack of notifications on his phone screen tugged at his heartstrings. “Yeah… I guess things change fast in Mystic Hollow,” he finally replied.
