The sun is blinding as it streams through the gap in the curtains, burning my eyes that are still heavy with sleep. I roll over away from the window with a groan, stretching out my hand to Allie’s side of the bed and I’m surprised to find it’s cold and empty.

I lift my head, blinking away the sleep that blurs my vision as I scan the room. “Allie?”

Silence .

I climb out of bed and pull on a pair of jeans before heading downstairs, expecting to find her in the kitchen making a coffee or curled up on the sofa, but she’s not there either.

Where the hell is she?

My eyes snag on the empty table where I’m sure I left the keys to my truck and my stomach sinks. I rush to the front window to find the driveway empty, my truck gone.

I grab my phone and dial her number but after ringing out, it goes straight to voicemail.

Surely she didn’t go into work today? Not after everything that happened yesterday. But out of all the other possible places she could have gone, the ones I daren’t even think about, I pray that she is.

I call Allie again to be met with her voicemail, again . “Fuck!” My hand shakes as I punch in her partner’s number instead. He answers on the fourth ring.

“Eaton.”

“Ryan, it’s Myles Lawson. Did Allie show up for work today?”

“Uh, no. Walker told her not to come in until next week. Everything okay?”

I squeeze my eyes shut, blowing out a long breath. “She’s took my truck and she’s not answering my calls. You heard from her at all?”

“I called her this morning. We found out her car had been tampered with, the brake line was deliberately cut which is why Maddie wasn’t able to stop at the lights.”

Fuck .

“Do you want me to go look for her?”

I rub my forehead, my mind whirling. “No, it’s fine. I got it. She probably just went for a drive to clear her head,” I lie.

“You sure? Well, you know where I am if anything changes.”

“Thanks, man. Appreciate it.” I hang up and toss my phone onto the table.

Dread curdles my gut. Some tiny alarm bell is ringing in the back of my head. I don’t know what it is or why it’s there, but it’s telling me that something is very wrong.

I drop Shelley a quick text asking her to watch Kit for a while before leaving the house and climbing onto my bike.

I scour the town for the next hour, searching for any sign of Allie or my truck but there’s nothing. I pull up outside the station, my next move taking up Eaton’s offer to help find her but just as I reach to switch off the engine, my phone in my pocket and I answer without glancing at the name on the screen.

“Allie?” I ask hopefully.

“Prez?”

I sigh. “Kill, now’s not a good time.”

“Prez, you need to get to the clubhouse. Now . We have a visitor.”

I don’t know what I was expecting to find when I pull up outside ten minutes later, but it certainly wasn’t a fucking Cobra standing in the middle of my clubhouse.

This one is young. My guess is early twenties and not much older than that. He’s surrounded by my guys who each pin him with their eyes, watching him warily.

“What the fuck do you want?” I ask.

“My name’s Drew. I came to tell you that Tobias has your girlfriend.”

My heart thumps harder in my chest as all the blood in my body drains from head to toe.

Fuck .

He has her.

“Does he know you’re here?” Kill quizzes, moving to stand on my right side, his arms crossed over his chest.

Drew shakes his head. “I told him I was running some errands. If he knew I came here, he’d kill me.”

“If that’s true, why would you risk your life to come all this way to tell me Tobias has Allie?”

“Because she’s my sister,” he says.

“The fuck?” His words take me aback. Allie never mentioned a brother?

Something inside me snaps. I take him by the throat and thrust him up against the wall, hard. His back collides with the wall with an oof , the photo frames hooked to the wall shaking from the force. “What sort of game are you playing, man?”

He grasps at my hands, desperately trying to prise them from around his throat. “We have the same parents, Amelia and Thomas, right? I didn’t know who she was, my uncle never mentioned her. Hell, my mom never talked about her, apparently Tobias wouldn’t let her.”

“Amelia’s alive?” Ray asks from somewhere behind me.

Drew’s eyes find Ray over my shoulder and he nods. “Tobias took her after he killed our father. It wasn’t until Allison confronted my uncle earlier that I realised my entire life has been built on lies. He didn’t deny any of it.”

I loosen my grip, removing my hands from around his neck. “Is Allie in danger?”

He reaches up to rub his throat. “Tobias plans to marry her off to one of the guys today, to make her an old lady.”

What? Marry her off?

I see red.

Over my dead fucking body will Allie marry a Cobra.

“Who the fuck does Tobias think he is?” Anger drips from my brother’s voice.

“What happened to your eye, man?” Kill asks.

Drew fingers the darkening bruise around his left eye. “This is what happens when you question my uncle. I asked him if forcing Allison into marriage was really the best idea and this was his answer. He’s expecting you. He wants you and your crew to come for her. It’s a trap,” Drew says.

“I don’t doubt it and you coming here could be his plan all along.” I don’t trust this guy, and I have to assume that him coming here is Tobias’ doing.

“I just want to do what’s right, man. Maybe get to know my sister. I’m done with my uncle’s bullshit. I get it if you don’t trust me, I wouldn’t either, but let me prove to you that you can.”

I think it over for a moment, scrubbing a hand over my jaw.

Kill steps up beside me, resting a hand on my shoulder. “How do we play this, Prez?”

“No fucking way is my girl marrying anyone who isn’t me.”

“Your man, Venom, he’s there too,” Drew adds. “Allie’s car that was tampered with? Apparently it was Venom who did it.”

Of course he had a hand in it. Why didn’t I see it sooner? I turn away, pacing the floor as I try to think of how best to play this.

“When is he marrying her off?” Jett asks Drew.

“As soon as he can, probably sometimes today. Look, Myles, I know you don’t trust me and you have no reason too, I just want to get my mom and my sister away from him, that’s all.”

My eyes return to Drew. “Why now?”

“Because I learned a lot of stuff earlier that’s changed my perspective on everything. Tobias has lied to me my entire life and I’m done. I never wanted this life but my uncle never gave me a choice.”

A part of me wants to believe him, that there is one good person in this entire world who doesn’t have an agenda, but that patch on the back of his jacket is the thing that stops me from trusting him fully. Allie’s brother or not, he’s still a Cobra.

“Let’s get one thing clear, I don’t trust you and if you mean what you say, you’re gonna have to work real fucking hard to earn it. You’re not going back. You’ll stay with us until this shit is over. If you screw us, whether you’re my girl’s brother or not, you’re dead. Got it?”

He nods. “I understand.”

“Let’s go get my girl.”
