CHAPTER TEN

RAINEY

S he was going stir-crazy. Daddy hadn’t let her leave the bed all morning and into the afternoon. She told him several times she didn’t need to be on bed rest, but he insisted.

Daddy told her she needed her rest. He was probably right, but she didn’t need to be confined to the bed. He even resorted to carrying her to the bathroom. Rainey knew for a fact she should be able to walk to the bathroom, but he told her to let him do this. He needed to take care of her.

Rainey sighed. She was getting bored just lying in bed. Dane had been keeping her company, giving her all the snuggles she wanted and needed, but even then, she was still bored.

“How are you feeling?” Daddy asked as he walked into the room.

“I’m fed up. I don’t need to be on bed rest.”

“I think you do. When was the last time you sat down and actually relaxed before this? ”

“That’s not important. I need to go back to the coffee shop and see how things are going.”

This was the first time she had left the coffee shop in the hands of Grace. Rainey knew Grace was capable of running the coffee shop, but it was her shop. She didn’t want anything to go wrong; they hadn’t been open that long. What if Grace needed something and didn’t want to bother her?

“You will not be going to the coffee shop. You need to rest and not be stressed. You’ve already told Grace, and she can handle it.”

Rainey shook her head. “I know she can handle it, but what if she needs me and isn’t contacting me? What if a customer was rude to her and asked to speak to the owner? There are so many what-if scenarios. I need to go and check up on the shop and make sure everything is okay. It’s my baby. I don’t want anything to happen to it.”

Daddy took her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “I know it’s your baby, and I know you want to make sure everything is running smoothly, but you’re not going. I can get a friend of mine to go and check on it if you want. He can be just a regular customer and see how things are going.”

Rainey didn’t know about that. What if his friend lied and said everything was running smoothly when it clearly wasn’t? Or what if he didn’t know what to look for and said everything was fine, but in reality, it was all metaphorically burning to the ground? But Daddy wouldn’t have offered it if he wasn’t confident in his friend.

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Such a good girl. Let me call him real quick and ask him to do this. ”

Daddy stepped out of the room, and she looked over to her right. She had completely forgotten her phone was sitting on the little dresser next to the bed. She had placed it there, so if Grace needed anything, she would be able to contact her.

She took the phone and called Grace. The coffee shop shouldn’t be too busy at this point.

“Grace?” Rainey asked when she heard her pick up.

“Can I help you?” Grace asked.

“How’s everything going?”

She held her breath as she waited for Grace to answer. What if she said it was horrible and she needed to come in right away? How was she going to get Daddy on board with that?

“Everything is running smoothly. We have had no hiccups today. Everyone wishes you well; even the regulars asked where you were.”

Part of her relaxed as she said those words. Rainey needed the coffee shop to work because she’d put all her money into it. She hadn’t come up with a Plan B in case it didn’t work, so she had to believe it was going to work.

“Do you need anything?” Rainey asked.

“Right now, we don’t. You need to take the day off. You haven’t taken one since the coffee shop opened, and probably not even before then. You desperately need one. Unplug and enjoy your time with Marco.”

Grace hung up before Rainey could even get another word in.

“Was that Grace?” Daddy asked as he walked back in.

She immediately started to feel guilty because he said he was going to ask his friend to go check. Was it wrong of her to call Grace?

“I’m sorry. I just… I had to call her. I know you’re sending your friend, and I really appreciate it. I just needed to call her and see if everything was okay,” she rushed out.

“Little girl, it’s perfectly fine. I did call my friend, but I stepped out because I figured you were going to call Grace. I wanted you to have some privacy.”

“Thank you.”

Rainey thought he had stepped out because he was going to talk to his friend about something else while they were on the phone. Daddy was constantly thinking about her and what he could do to make her life easier. She hadn’t been around him long, but he had done it several times without her even asking.

“I was thinking we could get to know each other better,” Daddy suggested.

Nerves bubbled inside her. She wanted to get to know him as well, but what if he asked her a question about her ex?

“If there’s anything I ask you don’t want to answer, just let me know. Don’t lie, though, because lying is naughty and will land you over my lap or in corner time.”

“I won’t be able to get over your lap with my stomach.”

“We have a perfectly good counter you can hold on to while I spank your bottom. You can also lay your upper half on the bed while I spank your bottom. There are options. There’s also a perfectly good dining room table we could use.”

Her mouth hung open as she shook her head.

“Are spankings a hard limit for you? ”

Rainey wanted to lie and say yes, but she knew it would eat her up inside. If she had felt guilty about calling Grace when he was calling his friend, she would not have been able to survive saying spankings were a hard limit.

“No,” she whispered. “It’s been a fantasy of mine to get one, one day. The guy I was dating before, when I told him I was a Little and wanted discipline, he was disgusted. He told me it was weird, and I was a freak for wanting that. He would make fun of me and tell me how bad of a person I was.”

She had no idea why she had just told Daddy about that. It was so easy to talk to him, and everything just spilled out. When she was with her ex, she had to force herself to say things. It didn’t come naturally like this was. With Daddy, she wanted to tell him everything and anything.

“You never have to feel that way again. That was wrong of him to say that to you. He should have never done that. If you want to try something, come to me and we’ll try it. I promise I will never make fun of you. If you want to try to put cookie dough on my cock and give me a blow job, we will take precautions so I don’t have to call my buddy to help. But if you want to try anything, you let me know.”

Her cheeks started to go red as he spoke. “I can’t believe we’re talking about this.”

This was not a normal “get to know you” conversation. Normally, getting to know you was basic questions, but this? This was different.

“We’re getting to know each other. I don’t want you to ever feel like you can’t come to me and say something. I want to be your safe place, like I said before. I want you to come to me to tell me anything and everything. No matter how big or how small it is.”

“And you will do the same?”

“To a certain extent. I don’t want to put things on you all the time. I’m one of the club's owners, and when things go wrong, I have several other people I can go to about it. You’re the only owner of your place, and I want you to be able to come to me for even that.”

“I don’t really think that’s fair.”

She understood he had business partners, but he could do the same with her, period. She was there for him and wanted him to come to her.

“I know it may seem unfair, but I’m trying to protect you. In a coupleof months, we are going to have a baby in the house, and I want you to be able to focus on the baby. I don’t want you to worry about the club.”

“Protect me from what?”

“From this stress. I know you’re already stressed about your coffee shop. You want it to work, and it is going to work. It is working. I will tell you some things, but if it’s a huge issue at work, I don’t want you stressing about it. Not when you’re pregnant and not when you have the baby. You don’t need to be stressed any more than you already are. Not unless you want to go on bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy.”

“I don’t want that.”

Rainey really didn’t want to be put on bed rest. She had been in bed all day so far, and it was torture. She never was good about resting and taking her time on things. She always had to be in “go mode” to make things happen and survive .

“So then, let me protect you. I’m not going to keep everything away from you, but if I know it’s going to be a long time until there is a solution, I won’t tell you, so you don’t have to be stressed.”

She sighed and gave him a smile. “Thank you. Snuggles?”

“Of course, Little girl.”

Daddy moved Dane further down the bed and climbed in. She immediately snuggled into his side and let out a deep breath. She loved it when his arms were wrapped around her. It had only been a day since they had officially met, but she was getting more and more comfortable and loved how safe she felt.

He was gentle and caring. He was understanding and explained things when she didn’t grasp them. He wasn’t just saying something for her to blindly follow. If she had a question, he answered it to the best of his ability.

“Are you feeling okay?”

She nodded and relaxed further into his embrace. In only a day, he had shown her what an amazing Daddy he was going to be. He told her to think about the future, but she hadn’t given it much thought.

Was it too soon? They had only known each other for a day. Maybe that was a little too soon. But at the same time, if she didn’t feel like it was a good fit, they could always break up. She didn’t want that to be on her mind, but she needed to realistically think about it. What if they weren’t a good fit?

“Are you sure? Do you want to talk about something? Something is on your mind, and I want you to know that I'm here for you if you want to talk. I’m not going to judge you.”

Rainey held on to him tighter. “Okay, you can be my Daddy.”
